We’ve all heard a thing or two about how strict and controlling the government of North Korea is towards its people. But there are many more things that we are not aware of, since visiting (or leaving) this country is next to impossible. The only place that someone can drive with the least constrictions is the highways of North Korea, which offer the sense of freedom.
Although the highways are connecting the counties of the country, they are usually empty with absolutely no cars moving.
Photographer Eric Lafforgue travelled to North Korea and photographed the highways and their surroundings.
The roads are in the size of airport strips and are quite bumpy with holes, showing the government’s zero interest in keeping them alive.
While driving on the highways, they advice you not to stop in the middle since it is too dangerous.
