Did you know that less than 2% of the people around the world have red hair? Red hair is a rare mutation, that both parents must have in order to transfer in to their kid. There is a 25% chance that they are not redheads themselves, but have the mutated MC1R gene. The hair color can appear in any ethnicity, but it is usually seen in northest or western Europe. Also, redheads are some of the luckiest people on earth, since their hair will never turn grey. Their hair color will start fade to rose gold while getting older, but will never go grey.
Photographer Brian Dowling has photographed some of the most famous redheads, like Julia Roberts, Amy Adams and Julianne Moore.
In his recent project, he chose to travel to various countries and photograph random redheaded women.
His goal was to show the magnificent beauty of this rare hair color that only 140 million of people worldwide have.
His art book that contained the 130 portraits of redheaded women was released in March 2017.
