When people get older, many things start to change. They spend most of their time inside their house, sitting on the couch and watching a lot of TV and maybe knitting. Their exercise might be some mild walking around the neighborhood or growing their own garden. Edith Murway-Traina is far from being one of these classic grannies. Not only doesn’t she sit in the house all day, but she weightlifts three times a week and even enters national competitions. She is a very active person and if she finds herself sitting for an entire day, the next one she will make all the efforts she can, to stand up and do something.

I am in my 20s and have never weightlifted. Now I feel bad.

So far, she has won two gold metals for the 60-pound bench press and 130-pound deadlift categories

Wow, that’s incredible!

If you watch her videos, you will hear her kids and various other people screaming her name and encouraging her

If I was there, I would too.

She initially hated the idea of the gym, but a good friend of hers dragged her there

I bet she is now so thankful of that friend!

Most recently she got a weightlifting competition named after her

If that’s not impressive, then I don’t know what is.

The most she has lifted is 165 pounds

Okay, that’s so cool.

We wish Edith to be healthy and accomplish all of her goals

It is true that anything can be achieved at any age if the willpower and strength is there. Old people shouldn’t stay locked inside their houses, but they should be going out and enjoying their life. They won’t last forever and there’s no fun in maintaining a lifestyle that gives you no pleasure.
