We’ve seen and heard case where people are denied entrance at a party because they are black or latino or because they ar dressed too casually. But, this is the first time that we’ve heard about a puppy being locked out of a puppy party simply because of her breed. The 9-week-old pit bull named Blu was denied entrance at a Petsmart puppy party because of the misconception that pit bulls are more prone than other breeds to be violent and aggressive. His human, Ash, did not let that drop and accused the company of discrimination and outted them online.
The 9-week-old pup that was denied entrance at a puppy party
Ashley Yanez, the pup’s human wanted Blu to socialize with other puppies, so she decided to bring her at a party.
Blu was denied entrance at a Petsmart party due to her breed
Petsmart’s policy says that they ”don’t allow bully breeds or any mix of, or any pets that exhibit aggressive behaviors”.
Petsmart’s justification is something more than inexcusable
When we’re talking about a 9-week-old puppy, you can’t be talking about ‘extreme violence’.
Ashley accused the company of discrimination and did not leave it there
The company also says that this measure has been taken in order to protect the safety of the other dogs and the people in the parties.
Ashley publicly called out Petsmart’s policy
Scientists deny the fact that pit bulls are violent from their nature. Many pit bulls are bred for fighting and violent behavior, but it doesn’t mean that they are born having those instincts inside them.
Petsmart’s apology is nothing but a patch to a large bleeding wound
The University of Pennsylvania found that the three top biters of humans are Dachshunds, Chihuahuas and Jack Russell terriers, which are all smaller dogs.
Ashley’s answer to Petsmart’s offer was simply the best
Accepting their gifts would mean that she forgets about the whole incident and only cares about getting the free stuff and that’s not why she called the company out.
Obviously, many comments in Blu’s favor appeared on Twitter
It seems that nobody in this world can be free of discrimination and there is something really wrong about that. Unless we find a solution to this issue, we can’t move forward as a society.
