Poverty has always been a huge problem in our societies. No matter how rich one country is, there will always be people who starve and live out in the streets. No matter the reason that each homeless person got to that point, each government and city administrations should take care of those in need. Church does a lot of work by offering meals and clothes to those who need them, but serious help is not coming from the top. It’s citizens who decide to offer their help to anyone who needs it and they are the ones that ease their pain a little bit.
Brennon Jones is a Philadelphia-based barber with an 11-year-old career.
He sets his ‘shop’ on the side of the road of pavements and will cut the hair of anyone who is in need.
He sometimes completes more than 20 haircuts a day and even travels to poor neighborhoods to do his job.
Brennon would have to put his project on hold during the winter because of the weather conditions.
Then, a complete stranger offered him a barbershop and told him to have if he wanted it.
He still opens his doors to the homeless of mondays, when he also offers them a free meal.
He believes that for those people a haircut is not just that, but also a boost for their self-esteem.
Brennon’s goal is life to serve the people and give some love to those who haven’t got it in their lives.
It’s initiatives like Brennon’s that give homeless people courage and make them feel like they are not completely abandoned in life. Even if he is a stranger, he shows everyone that he will always be there for them.
