If we take a look to how the fashion industry looked like about 10 years ago, you will realize that people were a lot more stuck to what seemed “normal” based on their race and gender and less on the high couture. Despite having money or not, nowadays people are a lot more understanding of high fashion and how to infiltrate it in their everyday appearance. Stephane Ashpool was one of the first independent designers who pushed for the latter to happen. Growing up in Paris, where so many different races were living side-by-side and couture fashion was prevalent, Ashpool decided to build a brand that would combine couture and street style. Having a more laid back style never meant that you couldn’t be fashionable. Taking even a quick look at his designs, you can realize that it is not only about fashion-conscious or athletic people, but both of them.
Ashpool first opened his store in Paris is 2008 and since then his work has become world-famous. He believes in the power of the immigrants and he thinks that their different cultures and styles have led to create this new mixed fashion style, where streetwear and couture are blended. This is the way that he thinks Paris will get even stronger and maybe dominate the world of fashion.
