It is not the first time that we come across a weird flavor of ice cream. We’ve seen ice cream made of octopus or horse meat or shrimp, but what we haven’t seen up until this moment is a flavor that is actually dangerous to consume and you even have to sign a disclaimer in order to eat it. The Aldwych Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour in Glascow, Scotland came up with the idea of making ice cream of flaming hot peppers. The Respiro del Diavolo flavor was first created in Italy, where Martin Bandoni, the owner of the Aldwych Cafe, happened to first see the recipe.
The Aldwych brand
Have you heard that before?
Delicious caramel shortcake flavor
Oh I need that right now!
Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor
And maybe a scoop of that too.
And this is Respiro del Diavolo
Here is where things are starting to get a bit tricky.
You have to sign a disclaimer in order to eat a scoop
Imagine how intense that might be.
It’s rated at a whopping 1,569,300 SHU on the Scoville scale
The hottest pepper in the world is rated between 1.4 million and 2.2 million units
Isn’t that crazy?
One glass won’t be enough…
I don’t know how many people have tasted and are willing to taste this flavor, but what is known for sure is that those who have tasted needed gallons of water in order to remove that burning feeling off their tongue and throat.
