Wanting to lose weight is a natural thought and wish that many of you may be experiencing as we speak. Although it is not bad wanting to lose a few pounds, it may be bad if you choose the wrong type of diet without consulting a nutricionist first about the benefits and drawbacks of each diet. What we wish to do today, is give you an idea of what some of the most popular diets out there do to your body and how they get you to lose weight. Theoretically, all of them can be successful if you follow the rules, but the point is which one of them will help you maintain the loss and keep you interested in its nutricion.
1. The Paleo Diet
The paleo diet emphasizes whole foods, lean protein, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, while avoiding processed foods, sugar, dairy and grains. Research has shows that people who have followed it have lost weight and maintained a healthier lifestyle and reduced the risk of having heart issues.
2. The Vegan Diet
The vegan diet is a very successful diet, since you eat as much as you want, without the need to count the calories and you still lose weight. No dairy, eggs and animal-derived products are allowed. You have to be careful though, because fries are 100% vegan.
3. Various Low-Carb Diets
In these types of diets, you can eat as much protein and fats as you want. These elements will be used instead of carbs as your main energy source. These diets have been proved very successful and especially for obese people.
4. The Dukan Diet
This diet is similar to a low-carb diet, only in this one moving to the next phases you can add non-starchy vegetables, then some carbs and fat. Studies have shown that this type of diet has been very successful in losing and maintaining your lost weight.
5. The Atkins Diet
The first two weeks of this diet include only 20 grams of carbs per day. In the following period, you start reintroducing healthy carbs into your life as you start to reach your goal weight.
6. The Zone Diet
This diet tries to pair each meal with one-third protein, two-thirds colorful fruits and vegetables and a dash of fat, like olive oil and avocados. Compared to other diets, this one shows smaller weight loss.
7. Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting gives you many choices on how and when to eat. One of the most popular choices is to eat one large meal every day, rest for a few hours and then spend the rest of the day fasting. The results are pretty impressive, but the health benefits are questionable.
8. The Raw Food Diet
This one is very similar to vegan diet, but here you can eat animal-derived products if you are not and don’t want to be a vegan.
Going on a diet should not be a just a goal to lose a few pounds, which you probably gain back in a few months. Your diet should be a depiction of how you want your nutricion to look like. This is the only way that you will be able to lose weight and keep the pounds away for good.
