When your body is struggling with something that doesn’t go as planned it might not notify you in a big and highly alarming way- or at least not at first. It might give you small signals that should give you an idea that something could be going wrong and need your full attention. Your nails is one of the places on your body that could indicate certain issues that might occur. Unfortunately, not everyone takes their nail issues seriously and try home remedies to cover any issue that occurs and don’t dig any further. Well, I strongly believe that you should dig in deeper and see where your nail issues could derive from.
1. Yellow Nails
Apart from smoking that might be staining your nails, the yellow color might be deriving from a fungal infection or in more rare cases it may indicate more serious problems like thyroid disease and diabetes.
2. Brittle Nails
Cracked or brittle nails indicate that the nail plate is very dry. Usually this condition is connected with tryroid disease and more specifically hypothyroidism.
3. Pitted Nails
This is pretty common and most of the times means that you need to supplement with Keratin pills.
4. Pale Nails
Pale nails often show that something is missing from your nutrition and that you might be anaemic. In more serious cases they might indicate heart failure and liver disease.
5. White Nails
Usually white nails say one very serious thing: liver disease. In this case, you should be very careful and visit your doctor immediately.
6. Bluish Nails
Usually the color blue indicates that the body is not getting enough oxygen, which could mean lung problems, like emphysema.
7. Puffy Nail Fold
In the case where the area around the nail is puffy and red, it might mean that you have some tissue disease, with lupus being the most common.
8. Brown Lines Under the Nail
This is one of the most dangerous nail afflictions, since it might be caused my melanoma, which is a serious type of skin cancer.
Of course, there is absolutely no reason to panic too much. Just because your nails are a little brown on the edges, doesn’t automatically mean you have cancer. What I am trying to say is that it’s important to listen to and pay attention to your body and never skip your routine visitations to the doctor!
